Graduate Teaching Associate in German
Elizabeth Schonagen is a Ph.D. candidate whose research interests center around the emergence of modernity in German literary and visual culture (late 19th-early 20th centuries). She received her B.A. in German (with Honors) from the University of Tennessee in 2004 and then an M.S. in ESL Education (2006) and M.A. in German (2008). While in the Ph.D. program she also served as Interim Assistant Director of First-Year Studies and authored college success textbook The Volunteer Experience: Journey to Graduation (2013). Additional research interests include natural/environmental catastrophes in literature and popular culture, language and advertising, and content-based curriculum design. Outside the academy, she enjoys cycling, sailboat racing, and spending time with family.
