Margaret Cross is a Master’s student in German and a Graduate Teaching Assistant. She holds a dual Bachelor’s degree in English and German (concentrating in Technical Communication and German Studies) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Margaret spent the first year of her Master’s program in Karlsruhe, Germany, where she primarily studied German literature and history. Her academic interests include literary and musical translation and the Weimar Republic from 1928 to 1933. She is currently working on her Master’s thesis, which focuses on both the role of the translator in the translation process and the parallels between the roles of translators and authors.
At the University of Tennessee, Margret is teaching beginning German; before attending graduate school, she has held administrative positions with varying responsibilities at UGI Energy Services and Godiva Chocolatier.
